JCC

The JCC is a group of dynamic Youth who want to make a difference in the community.

The council is Funded and helped by the Lions club and was started 1957.Its has grown tremendously and has produced outstanding youth

Each member is chosen from a school in Port Elizabeth to be on the council. Each school has two representatives on the council and each representative serves for two years.

The council is made up of juniors, seniors, board members and the Deputy and Senior Junior City Council Mayors.

This group of youth organize many community serving events. Starting from helping out at children’s homes, cleaning up beaches or running anti- drug rallies. It is a non-profit organization, but the young students are dedicated to make the best out of what they have. Their passion for the community drives them.

CARWASH

“WE… ARE GOING TO WASH…. YOUR CAR…. FOR….FREE!!!”  The council was overcome with the valentine’s spirit this year! So it was decided that we would wash cars… for FREE!!! Yep!! Nothing beats a clean car on V-Day!  By the end of the event the councilors were hoarse from screaming at cars to come park by the carwash, but things sped-up considerably, when we put emphasis on the FREE  element (unfortunately this part was covered by one very smart councilor, whom we shan’t name and shame (Rethabile….) JENNY’S SOUP KITCHEN

With over 300 hundred children to feed and a feeding council of just 3 ladies they had no small task to do. By luck the council caught wind of this magnificent and remarkable lady, Aunty Jenny,  and stepped in to try and help. Every Friday afternoon different groups of councilors go and help at the soup kitchen.  The visit has become extremely popular with Pearson and Newton Technical ‘s interact clubs also getting involved!  Imagine the difference we could make as a community if ALL the interact clubs joined in….
